Hey everyone, I'm working on a casual anime while working on my story. I may or may not turn this into a book/send it in to get published, but I figured I might as well post it to share with my guild mates. The ___ is either I haven't decided yet, or I might use that name come open beta. The name Skytruss is temporary. It is not the actual name of the diety. So enjoy
The day when my life changed forever began when I woke up from a very bad dream. I couldn’t remember exactly what it was about, but I knew it involved a tornado, a creature that looked like a humanoid bird, and a tree with glowing, star shaped leaves. I remembered it was the 16th of ___. I’ll explain why that date is important later in my story.
After I rubbed my eyes to try to get myself awake, I realised my window was open. The strange part was that I didn’t have it opened when I went to bed last night. A gentle wind blew into my room as I stretched to try to get myself awake. When I rested my head back on my pillow, I noticed the star shaped, golden leaf floating down from above me.
My first thought was that it was an ordinary leaf that blew in on the wind. Then I realised it looked like a leaf from my dream. I shot up, trying to grab the leaf, but somehow, it floated on the wind and dodged my hand. It rode on the wind into the middle of my room. I got up out of bed, and tried to grab it again, but like last time, it flew around my hand like it was possessed.
“Ok, what’s going on here? I have a very bad dream, I wake up, and a magical golden leaf is mocking me... Guess even leaves can find a reason to make fun of me,” I remembered saying.
I had a very bad day the day before. Five people seemed to take a liking to name call me, bully me, tease me, you name it. I’m used to it, so it didn’t bother me. But being mocked by a leaf was a different story.
When I tried to grab the leaf again, a gust of wind blew into my room and the leaf flew out my window. I tossed on a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt and leaped out my window. I ran across my backyard, chasing the magical leaf. Ya ya, sounds crazy, but trust me, this story gets crazier.
I didn’t bother to tell my parents I was out chasing a magical leaf that I dreamed about for two main reasons. The first is that they would think I’m crazier. The second is because its Saturday morning. My parents normally take a long walk on Saturday mornings, so I expected they wouldn’t be back until noon. I made sure to check my clock before I left, which said 11:30, so I guessed I had 30 minutes to get back.
The wind carried the leaf deep into the woods behind my house. We lived on the edge of town, so there was a good amount of woods in our area. I used to play in these woods when I was younger, so I knew my way around pretty well.
I chased the leaf into a clearing. At the time, I didn’t notice anything strange about the clearing. I paused when I remembered that there was not a clearing here when I played down here.
The leaf stopped in the middle of the clearing and floated down. I walked up to it, wondering what was going on. Being mocked by a magical leaf, walking into a clearing that wasn’t supposed to be there, I didn’t really want to know what’s next. I probably should have turned around then, but if I did that, I wouldn’t have met my best friend then.
As the leaf touched the ground, the wind drastically picked up. Almost instantly, a miniature tornado formed right where the leaf was. I fell back and crawled away from the tornado, wondering what in the world was happening. The weird thing about the tornado though, was that it had feathers mixed in.
When the winds died back down, I turned to see what had happened to the leaf and tornado. To be completely honest, I pinched myself at that point thinking I was in another dream. Nope, not a dream. What was standing in the middle of the clearing, where the leaf used to be, was what looked like a half human half bird. He had a bird head, feathers covering his body and two falcon wings sprouting from his back. His whole body was human (only covered in feathers), and he only wore a loincloth and what I guessed was a belt that went around his chest like an X.
If you think that was strange, it only got stranger. The bird-man started talking to me. His voice was more high pitched, sort of like a parrot, only not as annoying. His eyes seemed to stare right through me and as he spoke, I realized I could see right through him.
“About time someone found that leaf! I mean, come on. If you see a golden leaf the shape of a star, why ignore it? Its magical after all! The symbol of me, Skytruss! The mightiest of the 12 deities! Well besides ___1... and ___2... but thats not relevant!” Skytruss said. He ruffled his feathers and I got the impression he was making sure I knew he was boss.
“Who-what are you?” I got up. Besides my initial shock from almost being shredded by a mini tornado, I felt perfectly fine. Considering I didn’t have many friends, and I was always the one in the back corner. The freak with the freak imagination.
Almost randomly, I remembered my dream with the glowing leaves and the humanoid bird. O.K. then... dreams can become reality... or maybe my dream was actually reality in the first place? Enough with confusing myself. On with the story.
“I already told you. I’m a deity, and my name is Skytruss! Are all humans as dense as you are?” Skytruss said. “Thats O.K. though... I don’t mind. I don’t have much time left anyways before I get forced back to my world. So I called you here for a main reason...”
“Hold on! Your world? And called me? I’m completely lost,” I said, trying to figure everything out. This type of thing don’t normally happen to me, but I figured it was once in a lifetime.
“Fine, I’ll give you a brief summary, but we need to make it fast. Us deities can only stay in your world for about ten minutes before we are forced back into our world for another year. Kk, so I’m a deity from a different dimension. Normally, we don’t bother with your world, but both of our worlds are currently in danger. To be able to save our world, we need to save your world first, which I could care less about. Although to save our worlds, us deities need to combine with a human body so we can remain in this world,” Skytruss spoke quickly. “And you, my friend, have won the lottery! I choose you to be my human body!”
“Uh huh. And what do you mean being your human body? You mean like kill me and take control of my body like a zombie?” I asked.
“Ugh... if you weren’t so important, I would so eat you right now. Sharing a human body means that there are actually two spirits occupying one body. I wouldn’t need to kill you, and you won’t have to give up your body. Its more like sharing. At any point, we can exchange places and such. I would become tangible and visible, while you would become intangible and invisible,” Skytruss explained.
“I still don’t understand, but I’ll give it a shot,” I said.
“Oh, there is no turning back. Once we combine, we are going to stay like that. But no changing your mind now! I have about 30 seconds left,” __ said. “Hold out your hand like you're trying to stop something, and whatever you do, don’t scream. You scream, I will eat you.”
I did as I was told and held out my hand like I was trying to stop something. My eyes widened as Skytruss turned into a miniature tornado and flew up into the air. The tornado took a sharp turn and flew right at me, right at my extended hand. Instead of being shredded alive, like I should have, the tornado entered my hand (don’t ask me how, it just happened). I felt power surge through my body for a brief time. As soon as the tornado was finished being sucked into my hand, I looked around for Skytruss.
He was standing by me, with no change whatsoever. He looked the same, so I asked what actually change.
“You know, I don’t quite remember... Infact, I don’t remember anything from my past life... besides knowing I had a 10 minute time limit and I think I didn’t meet that time limit in time or something...,” Skytruss answered. If he had amnesia, I had a guess what it was from.
“So, if you went above 10 minutes, but was in the process of whatever you just did, the part of you who didn’t get absorbed got sent back into your world?” I asked. I play alot of mind games in my free time, so I was a quick thinker. Even though I didn’t exactly know what was going on.
“Possibly. If I didn’t get absorbed in time, its understandable that the anything that wasn’t absorbed would get sent back. That must be it,” Skytruss balled up his right hand and pounded it in his left hand.
“So not only do I have a spirit that constantly threatens to eat me inside my head, this spirit doesn’t even remember anything... fantastic,” I sighed. “I’m heading home. My parents should be home any minute now.”
I started walking back where I came, and I noticed that Skytruss was following me. I turned back, and not only did I see my new stalker following me, but the clearing was missing.
“The clearing is gone,” I said out of shock.
“Ya, probably cause you left it or something,” Skytruss answered.
“So, you don’t remember what you're supposed to do, or how to save our worlds?” I asked.
“Wait, our worlds needs saving?” Skytruss stated. I slapped myself on my forehead. Guess he really did have amnesia. I shook my head and continued to walk back to my house. I managed to get back into my room before my parents got home which was good. Skytruss of course followed me all the way back, mostly in silence. But, when we got back to my room, he let the questions fly.
“Ooo, what’s that? What does this do? Are you supposed to sit on this? Why does it smell like animal in here...? Is this your underwear?” I slumped on top of my bed, wondering what I was supposed to do with him. Without warning, a pair of my boxers got flung right at my face. I grabbed them and tossed them in the corner.
“I thought you couldn’t touch anything,” I commented.
“Oh, I can’t, but I can control wind even in this form. I just merely created a miniature tornado and flung your underwear right at you. It was a pretty good shot if you ask me,” he smiled.
I heard the garage door open downstairs. I got up and made my bed so my allowance wouldn’t get deducted. My allowance is pretty good, after all. I get 10 dollars a week just for making my bed and keeping my room clean every day. As long as Skytruss didn’t create a hurricane in my room, I should get my full allowance for this week.
I went downstairs to welcome home my parents and my dog. My dog is a girl, but we named her Shadow, since she was as black as night. Shadow is a blue heeler, black lab mix and you do not want to mess with her when she first wakes up. I followed my parents up the stairs to the second floor of our house and decided to head back to my room. When I opened my door, I wanted to scream my head off.
The single thing I had hoped Skytruss wouldn’t do, happened. My room looked like a hurricane just came by. My clothes were flung everywhere, my bed completely messed up. My blinds was lying on my fishtank and my pillow was hanging from the light. Sitting on my bed casually was the culprit, leaning against the wall with his hands behind his head.
“WHAT IN THE WORLD DID YOU DO?!” I yelled. It must of startled my parents, because they came barging in, and gasped when they saw the disaster that was my room. Now, I had to somehow explain to them I met a crazy bird deity spirit thingy while chasing a magical golden leaf into the woods. I tried, and they told me that I’m too old for an imaginary friend. I guessed that ticked Skytruss because he created another strong gust, almost blowing my parents off their feet.
“Tell them never to call me imaginary again, or I will eat them,” my ‘imaginary friend’ said. I put my hand on my forehead and answered him.
“You will not eat my parents. You even try, and I will put your head on display in my room. You are a guest here, so please act somewhat decent at least,” it was no use. As soon as I finished, he let out a belch and burped out bits and pieces of my shredded underwear. At least my parents now believed me about Skytruss, only problem is how to help him get his memory back and save two worlds with nothing to go on. I love my life.
